U.S. regulators have launched an investigation into 2.6 million Tesla vehicles following reports of accidents linked to the company's remote driving feature. This technology allows owners to use a phone app to summon their vehicle or direct it to another location autonomously.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the probe, citing concerns over the potential safety risks of this innovative feature. Notably, Tesla reportedly failed to disclose any of the crashes, despite being required to report incidents occurring on publicly accessible roads involving its autonomous driving systems.
This marks yet another regulatory scrutiny of Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance technologies as officials evaluate their impact on road safety.
