Kathy Klausmeier Becomes Baltimore County's First Female Executive

Kathy Klausmeier has made history as Baltimore County's 15th County Executive, becoming the first woman to hold the position. The Baltimore County Council unanimously selected her to complete the remaining two years of Johnny Olszewski Jr.'s term. Olszewski stepped down to take a seat in the U.S. Congress.
A Legacy of Service
Before stepping into this historic role, Klausmeier served as a Maryland State Senator for District 8, a position she held since 2003. During her legislative career, she played vital roles, including Vice Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Joint Committee on Workers’ Compensation Benefit and Insurance Oversight.
Vision for Baltimore County
As County Executive, Klausmeier has outlined ambitious priorities. She plans to drive economic development, strengthen public safety, improve education, address housing shortages, and effectively manage the county's $5 billion budget.
