Brian Matusz, former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs, has passed away at 37. The Orioles announced his death, honoring his passion for baseball and his commitment to the community.
A standout at the University of San Diego, Matusz was drafted fourth overall by the Orioles in 2008. He made his MLB debut in 2009, transitioning from a starting pitcher to a reliable reliever, with 280 appearances for Baltimore through 2016.
In 2016, he briefly joined the Chicago Cubs, earning a World Series ring despite only one appearance. He later played in the minor leagues and for the Long Island Ducks in 2019.
